Jonas Myrin is a Swedish-born singer, musician and songwriter best known as a worship leader at Hillsong Church London.[1][2] He has established himself as a songwriter for various artists with releases in Europe, Japan and USA. Based out of London, he is getting ready to launch his solo career.
Myrin was born in Örebro, Sweden. His parents were missionaries, which resulted in him travelling at a young age throughout Russia, South Africa, Iceland, and across Scandinavia. At a young age his voice was used in Swedish cartoons. He attended Risbergska Skolan High School where he graduated a year early. He then moved to London at the age of 17 to pursue a career in music.
At an early age Myrin was the lead vocalist in a local band that performed around Sweden. Later on his arrival in London, he joined Hillsong London Church where he soon began leading the music team. He wrote and co-wrote songs featured on the various albums including Shout God's Fame, God He Reigns, Hope and The I Heart Revolution: With Hearts as One. He toured with the Hillsong worship team around Rwanda, Cambodia and the USA. He often sang in duet and has done a lot of songwriting with Natasha Bedingfield who has achieved worldwide success as a pop singer since then.
In 2002, Myrin appeared in the music video to the song "Get Over You" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor playing a groom mannequin in a bridal shop.
In 2007, he played keyboards and Wurlitzer electric piano on the album N.B. by Natasha Bedingfield. In the same year, he co-wrote a song "Christmas Angels" with Michael W. Smith featured on the album It's a Wonderful Christmas.[3]
He also co-wrote the airplay hit song "Yours" on Steven Curtis Chapman's album This Moment released in 2007.[4]
For Matt Redman's 2009 album We Shall Not Be Shaken, Myrin co-wrote songs with Redman.[5]
He recently wrote the theme song for the hit Japanese TV series, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The song was performed by duo Chemistry.
In 2010, he co-wrote the song "Our God", performed by Chris Tomlin which has been nominated for a Grammy.[6]
